Iowa native H. H. Henningson wanted to lift small communities from their frontier status through civil engineering. His dream became reality in 1917 when he founded Henningson Engineering Company. The employee-owned firm has since blossomed into one of the largest and most respected architecture-engineering companies.

HDR stands for the initials of founders H.H. Henningson, Charles Durham and Willard Richardson. Henningson Engineering Company officially became Henningson, Durham & Richardson, Inc. in 1950. The name was later shortened to HDR, Inc.

HHF architects

HHF architects was founded in 2003 by Tilo Herlach, Simon Hartmann and Simon Frommenwiler. Since then HHF architects has realized projects in Switzerland, Germany, China, Mexico and the USA. Robert Hutchison and Tom Maul in 2001. Haines Phillips Architects was formed in 2007 by the amalgamation of two accomplished award-winning firms, Andrews Downie and Partners and Knight Phillips Architects. We have been in business for twenty-six years (since 1984), with the last eighteen years (since 1992) devoted to sustainable design. Each of the more than sixty built projects produced by the firm over the last eighteen years has demonstrated many aspects of resource conservation, energy conservation and healthier building. Each project has exceeded energy code requirements by wide margins, in both building envelope and mechanical systems, and in several cases pioneered the use of new energy-saving technology in Washington State. Each project has incorporated reused materials, materials with recycled content and materials from certified sustainable sources. Full-line job site recycling has been implemented on every job. is a design partnership practising architecture, landscape and urban design. The practise was founded by Shih-Fu Peng and Róisín Heneghan in New York in 1999 and in 2001 was relocated to Dublin, Ireland.

We take a multi-disciplinary approach to design and have collaborated with many leading designers and engineers on a range of projects which include larger scale urban masterplans, bridges, landscapes and buildings.
