Raw Architecture Workshop

Raw Architecture Workshop was founded by Graeme Laughlan in London, 2010.
Graeme spent the previous six years in Norman Foster's London Office where he was Associate Partner responsible for several major UK and international projects and competitions. RAW continues to develop the core values instilled at Foster+Partners. Rigour, determination, ambition, entrepreneurialism, common sense and the desire to stretch ourselves beyond the brief and the expectations of the client. The studio will operate a no-nonsense approach, and will not pursue any particular theories or styles through the work, but instead focus on solving problems and designing great buildings to work specifically for each client. Function definitely comes first.

María José Pizarro and Oscar Rueda, professional associations since 1996, are architects of the School of Architecture of Madrid. The main activities developed are architectural competitions, working in parallel on teaching assignments and in various publications. María José Pizarro is Associate Professor of Architectural Design at the School of Architecture of Madrid since the 2001-02 school year and Oscar Rueda is Associate Professor of Architectural Design in Alcalá de Henares ETSA between ESAYA 2001-05 and the European University of Madrid Since the academic year 2000-01. Rob Paulus Architects

Growing up in Arizona, the desert has played an important role in forming my approach to architecture. Blue skies wash down to the horizon and form a backdrop to the craggy, spiny earth and cactus. Wide-open space predominates the view, yet is contrasted by tight canyons with the dappled light overhang of mesquite trees. The desert has imbued in me an intense appreciation for nature that I find ultimately satisfying. Architecture to me is about nature. Pleasing to the eye and sensual to the touch, there should be a balance in built form that echoes the give-and-take of a natural environment. Just as an ecosystem contains many constituent parts that make up the whole, I strive to create articulated parts that work together on many different levels to develop the composition of a project. Many times the natural complexity of a site is better served by creating a simple backdrop to the inherent beauty already present. Critical to the architectural process is a team approach. Good relationships with clients and contractors are necessary to allow a free interchange of ideas. This allows a hands-on approach to build upon strong concepts. Crucial to this team process is the concept of client-to-architect relationship. A strong direct relationship between designer and user provides for a marriage of ideas, resulting in built forms that are conceived of in a natural dialogue. Conceptually, my approach to architecture relies on a sculptural rather than decorative composition. Merely copying the past belittles its very integrity. Notable buildings throughout history have all stressed innovation, from the soaring structural ribs of Chartres Cathedral in France, to the technologically daring Lloyd’s of London. All precedent-setting architecture has sought to create something new that is both functional and inspiring. The partnership of Ricardo Carvalho and Joana Vilhena started since 1999. Their works won prizes in competitions such as Architecture Award Thyssen in 1996 (3rd Prize), Residence of Students of Higher Technical Institute in Oeiras (2nd Prize), Housing Cooperative Chelas, Texas (2nd Prize) Centre for Urban Information Cascais (2nd Prize) and the Documentation Centre of the Port of Lisbon (2nd Prize).

Ricardo Carvalho Joana Vilhena + Architects were responsible for the exhibits, which highlighted the architecture exhibition "Ruy Jervis Athouguia architect, conceived the Order of Architects in 2003. In 2009, inaugurated the CHANGE, the Museum of Design and Fashion in London.

His work has been presented at conferences in Germany, Brazil, Spain, Ecuador, Italy, Mexico and Portugal and published in magazines in Argentina, China, South Korea, Spain, USA, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Portugal.

In June 2009 joined the exhibition "overlappings: Six Portuguese Architecture Studios at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London. The exhibition was held between May 27 and June 11, 2010 at the CAOC, Colegio de Arquitectos de Catalunya in Barcelona.

ARCHITECTS RGC

ARCHITECTS RGC is a study of architecture founded by Xavier Cavero, Jordi Gual and Salvador Ribas. Initially formed in the late 80s around the School of Architecture of Vallès, is recognized as the professional team from 1990. From then on we developed our RGC ARCHITECTS projects in the fields of Architecture, Urban Space, and Interior Design, working in teams and in collaboration with professional experts from different disciplines, who develop more specialized technical aspects, to ensure the quality of the study projects.

The structure of our working group has enabled us to tackle projects from a global view while approaching, responding to the demands of a dynamic and demanding society.

The selection of works and projects presented, reflects the diversity of assignments, and serves as a catalog of everyday architecture, modern, environmentally friendly and closely linked with the landscape that is proper. The trajectory of RGC ARCHITECTS, first recognized in the "Young Architects Competition of Catalonia in 1995 and subsequently in several" samples and calls for Architecture, "finally consolidated with the ongoing response of our customers.

Rocha Tombal Architects

Rocha Tombal Architects was founded in 2006 by Ana Rocha and Michel Tombal and based in Amsterdam. The agency is active in the fields of architecture, interiors, and urban redevelopment.
From an endless fascination for the use of light, sculptural forms and elegant detailing designed Rocha Architects Tombal quality buildings where logistics, programmatic / technical requirements and established financial / social frameworks merge into an integrated architecture. Both partners have worked for many years Mecanoo in Delft. This experience is taken into the new office: Tombal Rocha was able to with a strong vision and clear presentations capacity to acquire at various parties throughout the design and construction process.
Rocha Tombal Architects immediately, both nationally and internationally, manifested in her first mission, the renovation of the water tower in Delft and meditation center.

Robbins Architecture

Robbins Architecture is a design oriented architectural firm located in Winnetka, Illinois. Established by Celeste Robbins in 1995, the firm’s primary focus is on residential renovations and new home construction. Our design approach is one that respects the context, and provides a solution that synthesizes the site influences with the client’s goals. Our work does not adhere to a specific style, yet there is a distinctive aesthetic that is consistent in our solutions. In each project, we edit our architecture to express what is meaningful. We refine each solution until it has clarity to rely on fundamental design principles of proportion, light, balance and materiality. As a small design firm, we are able to develop a close working relationship with each client to complete their vision. We recognize the importance of each project and give the time and the attention required to make the process of design and construction a positive experience.

Roel Dehoorne/SAQ

Roel Dehoorne is the director of SAQ Brussels. After receiving his Master in Architecture from the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Gent (Be), he moved to Paris in 2003 and collaborated several years with different renowned and upcoming architectural practices where he gained experience and recognition in all layers of the architectural and urban project.

He integrated SAQ in 2008 as senior architect for the Belair-project and is now managing the SAQ office in Brussels.

RAU

The RAU architectural team, based in Amsterdam, adopts a particular attitude, defined by the term oneplanetarchitecture: RAU designs buildings with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Since 1992, the practice has been working for the public and private sectors, maintaining an approach that is conscious of planet earth and uses integral methodology. RAU is actively involved in the current international discussion on sustainability and in developing energy-saving technology and concepts for energy-producing buildings. In a world where so much nature is threatened by human activity, RAU considers it its mission to make a positive contribution through its presence and its work.

Randy Brown

Randy Brown, artist/architect established his practice in Los Angeles, California in 1989.RBA was formed in 1993 when the studio relocated to Brown’s home town of Omaha, Nebraska.Living and working in the heartland, surrounded by farming culture has had a profound effect on the studio. Brown has developed a farmer’s perspective, a strong connection to the land and work with your hands mentality, making work that embodies its place.

Roth + Sheppard Architects

Like many of the most prominent architectural firms in the Rocky Mountains today, Roth + Sheppard Architects emerged from Bill Muchow’s historic hotbed of modern design during the economic tumult of the 1980s. In 1983, Herb Roth and Jeff Sheppard established Roth + Sheppard Architects, and in 1989 Sheppard was named Young Architect of the Year. Founded on the philosophy that any size or type of project can benefit from thoughtful design, Roth + Sheppard’s first civic project was the Denver District 4 Police Station, which gave them the opportunity to demonstrate how police work spaces can be humanized by integrating daylight, expressing transparency and supporting greater community interaction. Well before its time, the firm’s progressive work was soon recognized for breaking new ground, attracting the interest of other civic leaders and setting the stage for Roth + Sheppard’s reputation as inventive designers of law enforcement facilities. Today, their work on over 45 justice projects across the United States continues to provide insight and understanding into planning and design strategies that create optimum working environments for justice personnel. Over the last 26 years, Roth + Sheppard’s projects have received 54 American Institute of Architects Awards, and more than 20 People’s Choice and industry publication design awards. AIA Merit and Honor Award winners include Scandinavian Designs Furniture Store (Honor Award), Evans Community Complex (w/ Sink Combs Dethlefs, Honor Award), Tokyo Joe’s Restaurants (Honor Award), Room & Board, DC10, Skye Boutique, Brighton Police and Court Facility, Colorado State Patrol Prototypes, the LAPD Rampart Police Station (w/ Perkins+Will), and the Adams County Communications Center (Honor Award). In 1989, Roth + Sheppard landed their first out of state project, the Santa Ana Police Department, which ultimately led to national work and a series of productive partnerships on larger projects with firms like HOK, AECOM and Perkins & Will. In December 2009, while completing the Museum Store at the Denver Art Museum, the firm took on its first international project, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Headquarters in British Columbia. Reiulf Ramstad is the principal owner and managing director in Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter AS (RRA), which was established as a firm in 1995.

Between 1991 and 1995 Reiulf Daniel Ramstad worked as assistant professor, lecturer, and thesis advisor at the faculty of Architecture at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) where he held basic and advance courses for “Complex buildings” and “Project Management” for beginners, advanced, and Thesis levels.

Reiulf Daniel Ramstad was a regular thesis advisor in the Faculty of Architecture between 1993 and 1995, a regular juror in the same Faculty between 1997 and 2003, and in addition, a regular thesis juror at the Faculty in the period between 2001 and 2006 and now from 2009-2012.

Reiulf Daniel Ramstad was awarded professor competence from the Oslo School of Architecture - and Design(AHO) in 2004. He is appointed as a regular thesis juror at AHO from 2008 to 2011.

Apart from his academic work at NTNU, Reiulf Daniel Ramstad was also engaged in his own architectural practice as a partner in “Steen Ramstad Bryn Arkitekter AS” between 1993 and 1995.

Reiulf Daniel Ramstad has received numerous awards for his architectural and design practice. In addition to a number of prizes in architectural competitions, some other prizes included are: “1. Premio Gino Valle” in Venice,” Foundation Norsk Forms prize in Field of Design and Architecture”, and ”The Norwegian Award for Design Excellence”. His furniture design and many of RRA’s projects have been exhibited in Norway and abroad.

Reiulf Daniel Ramstad initiated and developed the concept for the first Architectural Triennale in Oslo in 2000. Reiulf Daniel Ramstad also represented Norway at the Nordic pavilion at the Architectural Biennale in Venice in 2001.

Reiulf Daniel Ramstad was acclaimed professionally as boardmember of NAL, the National Association of Norwegian Architects, in the period between 1997 and 2000. In 2000-2002 Reiulf Daniel Ramstad was appointed vice president. He serves as a jury member for many architectural competitions both domestically and internationally.
