Curtis Popp is a third generation Sacramentan. He is a graduate of Sacramento Country Day School and Jesuit High School. He holds a BFA in Interior Architecture from CCA (California College of the Arts). He has been published in Interior Design, Dwell and Interni & Decor magazines. In addition to international publications, Curtis has also been published in many local publication including The Sacramento Bee, Sactown, Sacramento Magazine, Sacramento Business Journal and Comstocks.

Curtis lives with his wife and two children in Land Park.

CUBE Architects

CUBE Architects was founded in 2005. In 2008 and 2009, the sense of urgency to the world a more sustainable way to address increasing. Our need more effectively with our available resources to cope led in 2009 to join (and up) COOL ENDEAVOUR, a company with the goal of transition to a sustainable economy to accelerate. CUBE does this by as much as possible to work for an energy efficient and sustainable construction. CUBE We have over the years built up a broad portfolio of homes, offices and catering to public space and concept development. In 2009, one of our projects the Dutch Design Award. Endeavour is cool in the first half of 2010 "Green Bay" was launched, a business center for leading to a sustainable world. CUBE, the ground floor of the historic canal house on the Keizersgracht converted to 'cafe' for visitors and reception, and the entire building in a number of steps to an energy efficient and sustainable office building renovated. It is now a well-known example in Amsterdam, where even the church has a place. CUBE course also located in this beautiful building. Right now we are very busy with the former Stork site in Amsterdam North. In early 2010 we won a limited competition, in order of Eigen Haard, the 30,000 m2 factory buildings to transform into large and small offices, restaurants, event halls and studios.

Curtis Wood Architects

Curtis Wood Architects are a team of dedicated and creative professionals. We are focused on doing the best job we can and we bring a wealth of experience and creativity to every commission we undertake. From our central London studio, the practice is headed by managing director Andrew Wood. Our team consists of chartered architects, interior designers, administrators and architectural assistants. We are normally six to eight staff strong. Prior to starting the practice in July 2000 with Jason Curtis, Andrew worked within some of the most respected offices in the world. Curtis Wood Architects rigorous dedication to quality was developed whilst working with Lord Norman Foster on high profile projects including Wembley Stadium, Cambridge Law Faculty and the grade one listed Willis Faber building, and then with Sir Michael Hopkins on Manchester City Art Gallery. Andrew brings this wealth of experience and understanding to every project the practice undertakes. Jason Curtis left the practice in 2003, but the success of Curtis Wood Architects is down to a combination of the talents and determination of both Andrew and Jason, in addition to the great long-standing team we have now. Centerbrook

Centerbrook was conceived in 1975 as a community of architects working together to advance American place-making and the craft of building. From the beginning, its work has spanned from planning and architecture to details that make buildings memorable. The firm’s nineteenth-century compound of mill buildings, a former wood boring bit factory, is both the firm’s home and its vital center of experimentation where design is enriched by many streams of influence. An in-house theater hosts lectures and symposia on many topics, including how to make places distinct and how to perfect the craft of building. Cox Architecture

Cox Architecture originated in 1962 as a partnership between Philip Cox and Ian McKay. Their first buildings drew inspiration from the Australian farm and industrial vernacular and were widely regarded as the emergence of the first genuinely Australian contemporary architecture. Most notable among the early works were St Andrews Boys Home at Emerald Hill near Sydney and the C.B. Alexander Agricultural College in the New South Wales Hunter Valley. The College was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Sulman Medal in 1964 and was described by the architectural historian J.M. Freeland as “epitomising the Sydney School of Architecture”, which was an informal group of architects seeking to create direct responses to Sydney’s unique topography and climate. Through to the late 1970’s, the practice’s work was mainly domestic and school architecture as well as conservation of historic buildings. Philip Cox authored a number of books during this period which were influenced by a new appreciation of Australia’s historic architecture, in particular Rude Timber Buildings of Australia, the Australian Homestead, Historic Towns of Australia, and The Australian Functional Tradition. In 1977, the practice of Philip Cox and Partners undertook several projects in Canberra including the Embassy and Chancellery of Ireland, the National Athletics Stadium, and the National Indoor Sports and Training Centre. Although significantly different in type and scale from previous work, the two sports facilities embodied the same principles of structural integrity and climate response for which the practice was renowned. In 1980, the firm began work on the new township of Yulara at Uluru (Ayers Rock), a project which simultaneously expanded the practice’s size and enabled all of the formative principles of the practice to flourish in one of the most iconic of Australian environments. The Township was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Sir Zelman Cowen Award in 1984. The remainder of the decade was dominated by significant public buildings for the 1988 Australian BiCentenary gaining the practice reputation, in particular for innovative structural solutions to stadia and exhibition centres. These include Sydney Football Stadium (now called Aussie Stadium) and Sydney Exhibition Centre. Around this time, offices were opened in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, to complement those in Sydney and Canberra creating a true national practice. During the 1990’s, projects were acquired in Singapore and China from which an international reputation began to evolve. Offices were opened in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Dubai generating opportunities to respond to different urban and environmental challenges. By 2000, the practice had become one of Australia’s largest. The range of projects types and sizes expanded considerably into office, retail, residential, resort and mixed use developments. Master planning became a significant focus of the practice, particularly for urban waterfronts and for tertiary education and research campuses both in Australia and internationally. A number of international competitions were won including for Singapore Marina Bay Redevelopment and Singapore Management University. Today, the scale and diversity of projects is managed by the directorship and team structure that maintains the philosophical principles and design quality which have been intrinsic to the Cox history.

The name of the firm expresses an interest we have in exploring the boundaries that architecture operates within - the larger boundless environment suggested by the CITY, and the intense focused craftsmanship of the object, the DESK.
