Spleen

Spleen is a registered trademark of furniture designed, developed and edited according to criteria of design, robustness, functionality and comfort of an affirmative image of high plastic expression in a pronounced aesthetic standard.

Spleen is furniture of exclusive design, manufactured in EU, taking advantage of the vast experience of the small industry specificity, of great craftmen, with the consolidated knowledge of materials and techniques.

The furniture Spleen is registered at the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market and non-EU markets in which it is presented.

Studio Suppanen

lkka Suppanen (b. 1968) has studied architecture at the Technical University of Helsinki and Interior and Furniture Design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. In 1995, he founded Studio Suppanen in Helsinki. The studio offers integrated strategic design in the fields of interior, product and concept design and architecture.

Stefan Diez

Stefan Diez introduction to furniture design started in 1991 when for three years he worked as a cabinet maker. Diez went on to study at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart in 1996 where he attained a Diploma in Industrial Design. He founded his studio in 2003 and since then has worked in various fields of design ranging from furniture and tableware to industrial design, as well as exhibition design for companies like Authentics, Bree, e15, Established and Sons, Moroso, Rosenthal, Thonet, Wilkhahn and others. Some of his products have received international design awards, among others the “Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland”, the “IF Gold award” and the “red dot best of the best award”.
2008 he was art directior of Authentics together with Mirko Borsche and Christian Gärtner. Since 2007 he is Professor for Industrial Design at the HFG Karlsruhe. Diez works intensively with materials, technology and is passionate in his quest to fathom out their limitations. Together with his office they develop products that are precise, yet simple and above all are meant to meet human needs.

Stylecraft

At Stylecraft we're passionate about furniture of original design, and sharing that passion with you. From lounging through to occasional chairs, you will only find original designs from both local and international designers.

Stylecraft is a meeting point for contemporary furniture design from Europe and Australia. Stylecraft supplies in and outdoor furniture for corporate and office spaces, restaurants, cafes and residential dining spaces and lounging for public and domestic environments.

Studio Dunn

Studio Dunn is based in Rhode Island, the birthplace of the American industrial revolution. Unlike numerous businesses in the region that moved operations to the southern US regions or outside of the US after the Great Depression, Rhode Island has retained a dense manufacturing culture. Rhode Island is presently emerging as a leader in fine arts, industrial arts, and social entrepreneurship. Studio Dunn is committed to supporting the local businesses and economy. Combining in-house manufacturing with a local network of manufacturers and artisans, all of the studio’s designs are manufactured locally in the Northeast region of the USA. Studio Dunn was born out of Keeseh Studio, a community woodshop, whose members play an important role in the development of Studio Dunn’s works.

Studio Stonenwater

Stonenwater is named after the town where I spent my childhood. The town was surrounded by mountains and stream. My childhood gave me a zest for nature and creativity. I graduated from Hongik University in 2009 and majored in both metal craft and furniture design course. Where I learned about furniture, lighting, jewelry as well as art works. Especially I was attracted by chair design because the chair is an effective object to communicate immediately with people. After graduating I worked as a chair engineer for chair manufacture, SIDIZ in Korea. Here I learned the process of chair manufacturing and various industrial materials. At the same time I founded my own studio JJDL(Jaebeom Jeong Design Lab) for exploring various material and technique about furniture design. In 2009, 'JJDL' was renamed 'Stonenwater' since partnership with Gyeongjin Lee.
Stone and water means origin and fundamental of nature. Studio stonenwater tries to explore the essence of all objects. All objects have original intention of being made as function which indicates the value of existence. I focus on things to subtract not add in order to express the essence of all objects. Traditional techinique and sensitive handicraft make objects obvious to express the essence. 'Stonenwater' aims to design products that are sincere, intellectual, constancy and especially essential.

Samare Studio

SAMARE STUDIO is based in Montreal, with offices in Milan. It offers design and interior consulting services and produces its own portfolio of objects entirely handmade in Canada. Following the growing demand for customized objects, Samare Studio also offers unique design items, which transcend the needs of specific clients and projects.

Satoshi Okada architects

Satoshi Okada architects Inc. was founded by Arch. Satoshi Okada in Tokyo in 1995. For these fifteen years, major works have been globally published in books, magazines, and TV programs, over two hundred in total. In 2009, the achievement was crystallized into the monograph, Satoshi Okada - i miei progetti la mia architettura (introduction by Francesco Dal Co) was published from Electa architettura, Milano. Satoshi Okada architects Inc. is now located in the City of Kunitachi, identified as one of the most beautiful towns in both culture and green, in Tokyo. All of the working staff is selected to super-excellent architects who share the same spirit and sensitivity for design. Under the concept and design direction proposed by Satoshi Okada, each senior architect is responsible for working on each single project at one time with numerous discussions among Okada and other related professionals thoroughly from the initial design stage to all the supervising processes during construction towards each building completion; which, in fact, has enabled to realize buildings in the highest quality.

Studiofibre

Studiofibre is a multi-disciplined design company based in the Chiltern hills, just outside London. Established in 2007 by Fiona and Ian Livingston, and benefitting from their diverse creative experience ( with combined career paths giving over 30 years experience in the design industry ), Studiofibre is today a vibrant, evolving design studio with a portfolio of projects that encompass a broad range of sectors.Projects range from commercial and residential interior design and architecture, to bespoke furniture and domestic product design and production, and include contract furniture & fittings specification and procurement. The company philosophy emphasizes creativity of thought and the pursuit of a ‘non-style’ through the notion that every design solution derives itself from the micro-specifics of a particular brief, site context and budget mixed with the macro-specifics of a wider social and cultural setting

Spell

In 2007 Spell established itself between the banks of the river Rhine and the foothills off the Veluwe forest in the Dutch town of Arnhem. Spell aspires to create a new dimension of lifestyle products, constantly looking for new ways to engage the public with inspiring designs. To achieve this, Spell cooperates with various passionate and talented designers. Purposefully keeping fabrication in the Netherlands to ensure the highest possible quality, remaining true to our original designs.

Spell desires to create more space for people to escape their daily routine. Aiming to create products that are spontaneous by nature, emphasizing freedom and pleasure in use. It is not our goal to make user friendly design alone, we intend to visualize a playful environment to allow users to express their imagination.

Sergio Rodrigues

Sergio Rodrigues is this enlightened figure with a remarkable personality that had the ability to transform his concerns into a coherent and revealing work of the Brazilian culture. Sergio is, without a doubt, one of the most admirable design expressions in our country. His coherent and unique trace inscribed his name in the history of design in the 20th century, mainly for the creation of a variety of products - the most famous being the “Mole” armchair (Sheriff armchair).

Alongside masters such as Joaquim Tenreiro and Jose Zanine Caldas, Sergio has made Brazilian design internationally known. While Tenreiro, with his sober furniture, was the pioneer in the quest of a new style, Zanine extracted from the wood all of its expressive potential and Sergio Rodrigues developed vast experience of production, looking to “think” Brazil through design. He totally transformed furniture jargon, was generous in the trace and the use of native wood and, as Lucio Costa well affirmed, with the creation of OCA (his first interior design store) integrated the interior ambiance in the renovation movement of Brazilian architecture.

In the mid 50s, Brazilian production in this sector (furniture) was still bound to styles and its renovation demanded a battle. Sergio knew that the only weapon he had was the design and that was where he embarked.

Initially, as an architect, he worked together with David Azambuja, Flavio Regis do Nascimento and Olavo Redig de Campos on the Curitiba Civic Center project, which was very significant for Brazilian modern arquitecture. However, knowing well his interests and wandering the path that had already been wandered by other great architects, such as João Batista Vilanova Artigas, Oscar Niemayer, Oswaldo Bratke and Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Sergio leaped from architecture to furniture design.

Aside from this, he was absolutely sure that arquitecture in which the internal space was not planned accordingly was not arquitecture, it was sculpture.

Spigoli Vivi

Spigoli Vivi is a project born in 2009 of two young designers, Leonardo Fortino and Andrea Bartolucci. Which are found of design; they attend the faculty of industrial design in Rome “La Sapienza”. Even if they are from different places, they have same artistic, cultural and technological knowledges to find a linear, lively and artificial style.
They want to find shapes that stimulate curiosity and study daily behavior and deeds for making object with whom a man can interact.
Simple lines but not banal, looking for a direct and warm style.

Studio Formafantasma

Andrea Trimarchi (17-03-1983) and Simone Farresin (15-09-1980) are Studio Formafantasma – two italian designers based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The collaboration between the two started during their BA in communication design, illustrating books and magazines. Their interests in product design developed on the IM masters course at Design Academy Eindhoven, where they graduated in July 2009 with a thesis based on traditional Sicilian folk craft. The work of Studio Formafantasma touch relevant design issues such as the role of design in folk craft, the relationship between tradition and local culture, a critical approach to sustainability, and the significance of objects as a cultural vector. Andrea and Simone believe in the role of the designer as a bridge between craftwork, industry, user and objects. From this in-between position the studio is interested in creating a design practice that merges craft and industry, local necessity within the global context and on a conceptual level, to stimulate a more critical and conscious relationship of the user with objects. The aim of Studio Formafantasma is to create in time a coherent body of work both with self-commisioned projects and in collaboration with companies.

Sebastian Errazuriz

Chilean born, New York based artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz seeks to create works that can remind people of their mortality, invite them to look again at their lives and cuestion at their daily routines. His obsession with the dichotomies of life and death are present in his sculptures, public art works, consumer objects, furniture and even fashion. Selected one of the top emerging designers by I.D magazine, he has also been chosen Chilean Designer of the Year, and received multiple awards by design competitions, and the international media. His large scale avant-garde public artwork has received critical acclaim. His unique pieces have been incorporated in over 40 exhibitions including Tokyo, New York, Paris and Barcelona. His portrait on multiple magazine covers and hundred of articles showcasing his work, illustrate the interest of the critics and media which follow closely every one of his new projects. Born in Santiago, Chile and raised in London, Sebastian followed art courses in Washington and film courses in Edinburgh, Design in Santiago and later received an MFA at New York University. At age 28, Sebastian and the Campana’s were the only living South Americans to be auctioned at Sotheby’s Important 20th Century Designs. His design work currently forms part of several international private collections. Based in New York and with offices and workshops in Santiago; as an artist Sebastian is currently preparing public urban art installations for New York, Madrid and Santiago. As a designer, he is creating products for clients ranging from the design shop of the Museum of Modern Art in New York to private commissions and interiors. Faculty member and university teacher Sebastian has regularly participated with personal editorial columns in newspapers, magazines, radio and television.

Studio Makkink & Bey

Studio Makkink & Bey is led by architect Rianne Makkink and designer Jurgen Bey. Supported by a design team, they have been operating their design practice since 2002.
Studio Makkink & Bey investigates the various domains of applied art while studying the tension between the private and public domain. Taking a critical stance towards the designing of public space, architecture, interiors, exhibitions and products is pivotal.

Studio Makkink & Bey is located in an old industrial building enabling the entire production to come about on site.
The design team operates as one entity and includes experts of various disciplines ranging from fashion, design and architecture. The cross-wiring between the different areas of expertise prompts new insights and perspectives, which are used within each stage of the design process. Stories, study and research are in constant movement throughout the design process, to be converted into solutions for a perpetually changing environment.

The goal of Studio Makkink & Bey is to entice a new design culture by showing new alternatives through critical design. Analytical design is a fundament for a new culture in a city, public building or house.

Initially, all existing forces are reviewed to be defined again and reshuffled into a fitting design narrative. Experiment, doubt and a hodgepodge way of thinking are crucial to disclose hidden values and stories. This new potential unlocks all the possible qualities to constitute new cultural bearers.

The design process itself is elevated as a final product. The product continually adjusts itself to its current situation to be slotted into its designed context. All available expertise is used, such as a caring member of the community or a skilled craftsman. The result is a pertinent answer to the questions that lay hidden within every project.

One single product can progress into a project of a larger scale, motivating its own setting. In reverse, a project on the scale of architecture or urban planning can equally spawn a series of products which become the bearers of that context. This movement of zooming in and zooming out marks the interaction between the domain of architecture and urban design and the domain of products. Urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture are indissolubly bound to product design. ‘Did the invention of the elevator give rise to the skyscraper or did the high-rise buildings dictate its existence?’

Studio Olgoj Chorchoj

Studio Olgoj Chorchoj was founded in 1990 during the Vitra Design Museum workshop led by Denis Santachiara. At that time Michal Froněk (1966) and Jan Němeček (1963) studied at Academy of Arts in Prague. Their first projects involved design of experimental seating and interior concepts. At the begining Studio Olgoj Chorchoj´s creativity took on wide range of work from light-generating ready-made objects, glass vases, porcelain-made sets and titanium jewellery to architectural projects. Its designs stressed the use of technology and natural materials.
An important period of Studio Olgoj Chorchoj´s history, right from the technological point of view, was the fourniture made of plywood produced in numericaly controlled engines. This set of tables and shelfes named „Škoda tables“ was used for advertisement of Paul Smith and was exhibited in Europe and USA.

In 1999 Studio Olgoj Chorchoj exposed together with Eva Eisler and grafic studio Najbrt the karbon tables and basins in Radio House in New York. These can be found in colections of Metropolitan Museum of N.Y. A couple of project were realized in this period, such as an interior for PPF company, The Dynamo restaurant and several privat large-room flats. It is necessary to mention the cooperation with porcelain factory Epiag Dálovice. The porcelain set called „Marnotratné tvary“ („The Lavish Shapes“) was made in here. The name was found in reaction to the postmodernistic tendences. The „double wall“ appeared here for the first time and was used for many times after. According to an order of the firm Techo, studio set up the colaboration with glass factory in Včelnička. The final product took name „Dutá“: a glass with a concave stalk.

In the beginning of ninetees Studio Olgoj Chorchoj started to cooperate with Glass works of Zdeněk Lhotský „Tavená plastika Pelechov“, which concentrates its production on the unique technology of melting large blocks of glass. Things coming from their team work were lately exposed in common exhibition,which took place in Prague casel with the name „Ornament by technology“.
Since 2000 Studio Olgoj Chorchoj has been cooperating with glass factory Kavalier in Moravia. Studio Olgoj Chorchoj projected for them the drinking set „Look“ made of flame-ware, later on double-wall set Twinwall, vases „Gap“ were made for Gandy gallery and together with Moss gallery in New York a set of tubes lights in the shape of cross and candellabre. A certain success came with cooperation between Studio Olgoj Chorchoj and Vitrun Praha s r.o the producer of laboratory glass. A set of table and floor candellabres was the result. In 2003S tudio Olgoj Chorchoj exposed a new set of vases in Vessel Gallery London, which were producted in Moser glassfactory.

In 2005 Studio Olgoj Chorchoj started a very intesive colaboration with glassworks Květná, for which the drinking set were projected : Konus, Ez, Cut, Mr. Egg, and so on.The glassfactory Květná is specialised on hand–made and traditional technolgical procedures, which correspondes with the design intentions of Studio Olgoj Chorchoj. In 2006 the set Mr. Egg was aworded with Design Plus awords on tradefair Ambiente. In the same year the butch production of Beer glasses for Pilsner-Urquell devoted to the wholeworld trade took up. These were made in the production of the firm Rastal.
Jan Rosický, Lars Kemper, Pavol Mikuláš and Petr Mikošek are the most involved in glass projects.

An important part of the team work is the design of interiors and reconstruction of the historical objects and industrial buildings.
Daniel Paterko and Ondřej Kopečný are working on realisation of several flats and family houses in presence. Six years long project of conversion of prague ham-factory into multifunctional building is finishing now, the name is M-Factory. The wooden house in Čenětice is finished. Several family houses are waiting for their realisation in Černošice near Prague. The project of house reconstruction in Petrské squer in Prague is held nowadays. Many forces are put also into urbanistic project in Odolena Voda or the finishing reconstruction of the Centr of modern therapies Zelená Antilopy in Prague – Holešovice atd.

Several years lasting architectonical project of shaping the sound studio Soundsqure was projected by Jan Rosický, the second fase was realised by Juraj Smoleň and the third one and finishing was made by Mahulena Svobodová.
One of the very actual thing is cooperation with the firm Prim (the old czech sign of the watches producers, now renew) on colection of hand watches. In 2007 studio started to cooperate with refounded UP závody.

Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček are the leadrs of atelier of design products in Academy of Arts in Prague.

Studio Jens Praet

Jens Praet is a belgian designer, though after completing his studies in Italy and in The Netherlands, Jens Praet now works in Panzano in Chianti, a small town near Firenze in Italy, where he recently opened a new driven design studio: studio Jens Praet, working and experimenting on a variety of new products.
Studio Jens Praet’s works range from pure products to graphic related designs with the main goal to create objects that have never been seen before. The Studio Jens Praet reminds us most of all of a strong passion for everyday objects and materials and the combination of old and new, finding inspiration in unexpected details and daily issues which become often the starting point in the design process.

Studio Jens Praet’s work has been exhibited at several interesting international locations and has been featured in many major design publications and newspapers world-wide.
Amongst its clients are Droog Design, Vogue, Yamamay, Eat Drink Design and private clients.

Nowadays the studio Jens Praet is working on 3 design collections which will be presented in Milano during upcoming Salone del Mobile 2010.
