Morris-Nunn Architects is widely regarded as Tasmania's most adventurous and innovative architectural practice. It has developed internationally recognised strategies for ecologically sustainable architecture, constructing several innovative 'landmark' buildings that have attracted national and overseas acclaim.
The basic thrust of Morris-Nunn Architects 's oeuvre over the years has been to explore new approaches towards a more enlightened, socially humane architecture. Morris-Nunn Architects has created many unique projects that have played an important role in helping to improve the social conditions of communities in which the buildings are built.
Morris-Nunn Architects always try to produce architecture that brings tangible economic and cultural benefits to the immediate surrounding neighbourhoods.
In addition, these projects often involve inclusive, collaborative design processes; the teams including designers in many allied engineering fields, but also artists and crafts people who have given their unique insights in important ways as part of the creative process to produce inspired solutions.
Morris-Nunn Architects has won a large number of Australian and Tasmanian architectural awards, including a National Environmental Architecture Award for the Forest EcoCentre in North East Tasmania, and projects have been regularly illustrated in many Australian and international publications, and Robert Morris- Nunn has been invited to lecture at many Australian and international conferences.
Morris-Nunn Architects is based in Hobart, located within the redeveloped IXL Jam Factory warehouses in Hunter Street, Sullivanʼs Cove, inhabiting office space within the development for which the practice was one of the two original instigators. Morris-Nunn Architects currently employs five architects, undertaking projects primarily in Tasmania but have also been engaged in projects in NSW, Vic and Qld.
