3RW architects was established in the fall 1999 as a young and independent office. Since then 3RW architects have been working with a wide variety of projects and clients. At the moment we are engaged in projects expanding from singular housing in privat context, to consulting the Norwegian Ministry of Defence in developing new strategic concepts for their properties. 3RW architects have participated in the Venice Biennale 2006 and also in 2000. The office also exhibited at the Havanna Biennale 2000, and additionally many other internartional exhibitions of contemporary architecture. Members of 3RW architects have recived the AR award, overall winner in the Architectural Review award - 1999 and the Ralph Erskine award - 1997. In 2008 3RW was selected as the winner of the Eurpa 40 under 40 award. 3RW architects focuses on architecture as a tool for investigating social relationships within our surroundings. We consider ourselves a network-orientated company since it is our opinion that creating architecture, creating the framework of a dynamic society, is too big a task to be handled within a traditional architects office alone. Therefore we engage in many cooperative projects along with technical consultans, artists, scientists, anthropologists, geographers, scenographers and writers, in order to be a proper participant in the discussion of our surroundings. It is our opinion that dealing with urban questions of today require innovations based upon interdisciplinary collaboration. Perhaps the most striking characteristic of the new generation of architects, is the ability to replace traditional experience with other forms of autorisation. This is representative for a new set of possibilities for the new contemporary architect. Working within a peculiar landscape and society requires knowledge within a wide range of subjects. As architects we need to develop tools of investigation supplying us the relevant information we need to create meaningful interventions.
