DRAW

DRAW was established by John de Manincor and Adam Russell in 2006. The practice has a reputation as emerging leaders in research, teaching, and design. Our professional experience spans more than twenty years including projects that are now recognized as outstanding works of architecture and urban design. The principals have made significant contributions to award winning projects such as Mondiran Apratments (AIA Wilkson Award for Housing 2002 #), Domain Apartments (AIA Premiers Award 2001#) National Institute of Dramatic Art (AIA Sulman Award for Public Buildings 2002 *) and the Parramatta Transport Interchange (AIA Premiers Award 2006*). Our collective experience includes the design, documentation and realization of multi-unit housing, office buildings, railway stations, theatres, hospitals, libraries and individual houses for individual, corporate and public clients across the globe . Completed projects range from a cupcake store, to interiors for arts organisations, through to masterplans and numerous residential commissions. Major projects include urban space studies for the City of Sydney and Bankstown Council and a major new facility of the State Emergency Services (SES). Our work has been published in various design publications and the principals have written articles for Architectural Review Australia, Architecture Australia and Houses magazines. DRAW was among six practices selected nationally to participate in the research based ‘About Face’ Design Competition for Think Brick Australia in 2009 – our proposal was Highly Commended by the jury and we were awarded the Peers Choice Award. In 2010 we were invited to participate in the ‘Sign-of-the-Times’ project at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where we are assisting in the branding of the University’s masterplan projects during construction. DRAW is committed to a vibrant architectural culture, we have been involved in events and lectures for the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) as well as numerous exhibitions. John and Adam have been involved in architectural education for more than ten years and have taught in professional practice, construction and design at the University of New South Wales and UTS and been guest critics at the University of Sydney, the University of Newcastle Parsons: The New School (NYC), Cooper Union (NYC) and Columbia University (NYC).
