OFF Architecture

The question of the architectural project isn't therefore put before any technical considerations but it is important to understand all the factors by which it is surrounded. These include the position of the owners, architects, consultants, urban planners, engineers, economists, future users, as well as, of all the material of construction: site, neighbourhood, history, geometry, geology, sociology, ethnology, phenomenology, poetry, time etc...The synthesis isn't just an accumulation of the various parts, but rather their relationship in a manner which is more or less conscientious and intuitive. Our team does not consider architecture as an isolated action but rather as an addition of skills and an exchange or knowledge. We privilege a method of associative conception with the intention of responding with the greatest relevance and professionalism as our backer......OFF Architecture

Ooze

Architecture and design are natural organisms consisting of elements that are interdependent and subordinate to a greater whole: city, neighbourhood, home, self. Relations are determined through use.
Seen in this way, architecture and design are explicitly vital forms of expression, capable of provoking a broad range of thoughts, experiences, sensations, emotions and memories.
Ooze applies itself to the practice of both.
Ooze is Eva Pfannes and Sylvain Hartenberg.
Ooze partners travel extensively, enriching how they think about design and cultivating opportunities to practice abroad. The exchange of expertise involved in collaborative international projects feeds directly into their practice: Introducing new ways of thinking about design, architecture and the ethics of craftsmanship, new methods of processing information, fabricating products, defining, delineating and, ultimately, utilizing space.
The universal gives way to the personal, and vice versa.
Ooze international collaborations include: developing a distinctive architectural brand using the ethics of design, form and structure to define a developer's identity leading to urban plans, hospitality and residential units in collaboration with Urban Studio-Mumbai, India; teaming up with the office CQ in Paris for interior and residential projects.
Ooze operates out of Rotterdam, Netherlands and Paris, France.
Ooze practice was formally established in 2003. Ooze has participated in numerous international competitions, winning prizes and honourable mentions with every entry. Additionally, Ooze projects repeatedly capture the attention of the international press.
Ooze has been awarded the Prix de Rome Architecture 2006 - Basis Prize (Rijksakademie, Amsterdam).
The current work ranges from scenographies for The Museum of Contemporary Art TENT,interior design projects in Belgium and France, villas in the outskirts of Rotterdam NL, a preliminary urban strategy for Amsterdam west and a master plan in Hyderabad, India.

Omer Arbel Office

OAO (Omer Arbel Office) is active within the traditionally defined fields of architecture, industrial design, craft and materials research; we are most comfortable in the ambiguous zones of overlap between them. We operate within constantly oscillating parameters of scale, site, socioeconomics, phenomenological experiment, power relationships, environmental imperative and allegorical relevance. Our goal is to create extraordinary projects. OAO was established in 2005 in Vancouver by Omer Arbel, and has since grown to include a small team of both generalists and specialists from very different backgrounds, organized as a collaborative studio. Our clients include private individuals, manufacturing companies, fine craft focused ateliers, property developers and institutions of various sorts.

Overland Partners

Although Overland Partners was founded in 1987, the idea of Overland began taking shape a decade before. Four close friends (Rick Archer, Tim Blonkvist, Robert Schmidt and Madison Smith) from the University of Texas at Austin, dreamed of one day opening their own firm. However, life took them in different directions after graduation. They each traveled the world in their separate endeavors, studying and working in places like Copenhagen, Zurich, New York, Washington, D.C. and Dallas; all the while keeping in touch. Finally, in 1987 they were able to bring their dream to life. Over the years, the firm has grown from four friends working on small remodeling projects to over 60 professionals working on significant public buildings throughout the United States and several other countries. More importantly, Overland has become a group of passionate individuals working together to influence the world through their architecture.

Renewal and innovation are the result of bringing together expertise and insight into a wide range of disciplines and placing them within a new context. This cross-pollination is possible because the work of OIII Architects covers an exceptionally broad field. We work in the conviction that expertise is only meaningful within the context of a strong concept. The fact that we are an enthusiastic, reliable and professional partner in the construction process goes without saying.

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects began its creative existence with architect Jim Olson, whose work in the late 1960s explored the relationship between dwellings and the landscape they inhabit in the Northwest. Olson started the firm based on some simple ideas: that buildings can serve as a bridge between nature, culture and people, and that inspiring surroundings have a positive effect on people’s lives. Rick Sundberg joined the firm in 1975, and its commitment to urbanism and civic life became evident as they began designing and developing modern urban buildings in and around Seattle’s national historic districts Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square.

In 1996, Tom Kundig and Scott Allen joined Olson and Sundberg as owners, taking the firm to another level of creative exploration and helping it grow into an office with an international reputation. Alan Maskin and Kirsten Murray joined the owners group in 2008, continuing the evolution of the firm and furthering its commitment to the experience around architecture, articulated in exhibit design, interiors, and connections to urban and rural landscapes.

The firm now numbers over 85 employees. Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen’s work, including museums, academic buildings, exhibit design, interior design, places of worship and residences, often for art collectors, is now worldwide. The office combines the capacity of a large firm with the intensity of a small one. The firm’s commitment to vigorous, critical design review sessions has infused its designers with a shared sense of commitment to every project.

The owners lecture extensively on design, regularly serve as university studio critics, and are board members for civic institutions and jury awards programs. The firm’s award-winning work has been widely exhibited in North America, has been published extensively, including in the New York Times Magazine, Architectural Digest, and Architectural Record, and has been featured numerous times on the covers of books and magazines. Among the firm’s accolades are National and Regional design awards from the American Institute of Architects, American Architecture Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum, and Tom Kundig’s National Design Award from the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt and his Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

A monograph of the firm’s work, Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects: Architecture, Art and Craft, was published by The Monacelli Press in 2003. This was followed by Art + Architecture: The Ebsworth Collection + Residence, which highlighted the house designed by Jim Olson for art collector Barney Ebsworth, and Tom Kundig: Houses, published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2006. In 2007, on the occasion of the Frye Art Museum’s fifty-fifth anniversary, Documentary Media published The Frye Art Museum: Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects, highlighting how the firm designed a remodel and significant expansion to bring a classic Seattle institution into the present.
