SPAN

A trefoil of obsessions drives the design ecology of SPAN. The compulsive desire to speculate about architectural opportunities in the presence of animated matter and their underlying geometry, the desire to ride on the ballistic trajectories generated by Baroque lineages of architectural thinking, and the opportunities present in computer controlled machinery to materialize their designs in a physical realm. All these speculations create a manifold of forms, from conference papers, to industrial design pieces, to architectural projects. The latent abilities dormant in creative strategies driven by algorithmic and generative processes as well as the simulation of environmental pressures generate opulent, intensive spatial conditions reflecting the cravings of SPAN for contemporary atmospheres.

Studio E Architects

Studio E Architects was founded in 1994 with the objective of creating buildings which were both aesthetically refined and environmentally responsible. We have applied this principle to commissions across many building sectors, creating a network of skilled and like-minded consultants and achieving recognition through regional, national and international awards as well as through extensive media coverage. In addition to design commissions we have also undertaken R&D, development planning and feasibility assessment. We enjoy working across a range of sectors, believing that a flow of new challenges keeps the mind inventive and that insights and investigations in one field can often inform and illuminate those in another. With each project we seek to produce architecture which, while fulfilling its brief and being delivered on time and to budget, moves beyond this to be life-enhancing and unique: a special place.

studio octopi

studio octopi is a creative architecture practice based in central London. The practice’s work is rooted in an architecture of context and craft. The materiality and detailing of each project is balanced alongside each project’s environmental and historical condition. We place great emphasis on the referencing of a project, drawing from both the arts but also a close observation of our surroundings; the incidental and everyday. The use of traditional construction expertise coupled with an inventive application of materials and exceptional detailing can be seen to characterise our work. The practice’s architecture has been noted for its clarity of form and detail, where interiors and furniture are considered part of the cohesive design process.

The practice continues to undertake a wide range of projects across the private, public and commercial sectors. In working closely with our clients, a process is established that allows a project to creatively evolve whilst addressing the brief and budget.
