4a-architekten

Architecture offers identity, stimulation, reflection, fun, orientation and security.

Architecture is a process that undergoes constant development. For this reason alone, there is a need for a moderator, a role which we fulfil as a team.

Our team is always centred around the building owner: his needs, his requirements, his wishes, his views and his claims.

A dynamic is then generated around him in the course of our working process which at first leaves all options open, yet at the same time remains goal-orientated and results in an integrated solution......4a-architekten

123DV

The company is founded in 1999 by Liong Lie.
The current team consists of 10 architects, planners and interior designers.

WORK FIELD
In addition to buildings and interiors, we also design custom made products such as furniture, sinks, doors, lighting for an optimal experience.
Your question is our mission.

VISION We believe that due to changes in society existing concepts of living and working are to be reconsidered.
When necessary they should be revised to better reflect the diversity of lifestyles that provide for new developments.

We believe in "form follows identity", from personal to public and commercial projects.
In personal projects such as villas it results in tailor made buildings.
To stress the character of the public space we designed "edible" sinks for a restaurant.

We embrace "crossover thinking". We think that it can lead to unexpected solutions and increase people's comfort of life.
Traces from the car- and fashion industry can be found in the blackbox project; a cupboard as a silence room or a silence room as a cupboard.

2012Architects

2012Architects is a Rotterdam based architecture office that utilizes the contextual potential for design. A design is not considered as the beginning of a linear process but as a phase in a continuous cycle of creation and recreation, use and reuse. The latent properties of used materials and products offer an added value to new products and buildings. Our office views re-use as an integrated design strategy called ‘Superuse’. The Reuse concept applies to building materials as well as to energy supplies, human resources, water, traffic and food cycles. We develop strategies for cities to connect different loops, while integrating these processes into the existing urban environment. This concept is coined ‘Recyclicity’. To get a grip on the complexity of all these aspects, most projects start with investigating the different relevant layers. Important layers are: existing location, context, energy sources, water, food systems, existing built structures, green structures, climate, materials, functionality, ergonomics, available budget, capacity of the project team. After mapping those layers we search for possible interconnections. This ultimately leads to a design that integrates all these aspects. Even the way the office is organised is conceived as a cyclic development process; RE.search, RE.design, RE.build. In RE.search potential waste-streams and regional cycles are investigated. The results of this RE.search are used experimentally within projects in RE.design. In this way knowledge is developed that will be used in architectural projects in RE.build. Practical results are then evaluated by RE.search.

3XN

3XN was founded as Nielsen, Nielsen and Nielsen in Aarhus in 1986 by the architects Kim Herforth Nielsen, Lars Frank Nielsen (partner until 2002) and Hans Peter Svendler Nielsen (partner until 1992). The three Nielsen architects, often referred to as the Nielsens – and today simply as 3XN – quickly became known for two things: their preference for ground-breaking architecture, in defiance of the anti-humanistic modernism, and projects demanding a high level of detail and employing workmanship of the highest quality.

450architects

450 architects was established in 1995 by Richard Lee Parker, AIA, and David Bushnell, AIA. Our practice prizes individual creativity. At the same time, we work together in an open studio environment. And that says a lot about who we are: collaborative, democratic, and focused on an end result we can all take pride in.

3rw Architects

3RW architects was established in the fall 1999 as a young and independent office. Since then 3RW architects have been working with a wide variety of projects and clients. At the moment we are engaged in projects expanding from singular housing in privat context, to consulting the Norwegian Ministry of Defence in developing new strategic concepts for their properties. 3RW architects have participated in the Venice Biennale 2006 and also in 2000. The office also exhibited at the Havanna Biennale 2000, and additionally many other internartional exhibitions of contemporary architecture. Members of 3RW architects have recived the AR award, overall winner in the Architectural Review award - 1999 and the Ralph Erskine award - 1997. In 2008 3RW was selected as the winner of the Eurpa 40 under 40 award. 3RW architects focuses on architecture as a tool for investigating social relationships within our surroundings. We consider ourselves a network-orientated company since it is our opinion that creating architecture, creating the framework of a dynamic society, is too big a task to be handled within a traditional architects office alone. Therefore we engage in many cooperative projects along with technical consultans, artists, scientists, anthropologists, geographers, scenographers and writers, in order to be a proper participant in the discussion of our surroundings. It is our opinion that dealing with urban questions of today require innovations based upon interdisciplinary collaboration. Perhaps the most striking characteristic of the new generation of architects, is the ability to replace traditional experience with other forms of autorisation. This is representative for a new set of possibilities for the new contemporary architect. Working within a peculiar landscape and society requires knowledge within a wide range of subjects. As architects we need to develop tools of investigation supplying us the relevant information we need to create meaningful interventions. All members of the office are also teaching at the Bergen School of Architecture.
