Use Architects

Use Architects have provided Urbane and Sophisticated Environments for discerning clients since 1995, informed and inspired by contemporary culture and ranging in scale from individual furniture commissions to urban and green field masterplanning. Material technology, consumption of energy and taste drive all our cultural and architectural decisions, and augmented with inclusive research and development, the client becomes an integral member of the design team producing a shared, complex and informed product. Driven by an enthusiastic embracing of both the leisure and production principle we make spaces to ponder, consume, create, recreate and relax.

Recently Bocca Di Lupo attained Evening Standard and Time Out restaurants of the year on opening and is now an established Soho institution. We have new build multi unit residential projects on site in Clerkenwell and Stepney and will embark on our own mixed use development in London Fields imminently. Arts based projects in development are design/build constructions with artist Hassan Hajjaj to produce a recycled mobile art gallery and Westway Development Trust to make a pop up digital cinema under the Westway.

Urbanscape Group

Urbanscape Group, based in Toronto, Canada, is a young, multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm which focuses largely on contemporary design for multi-unit residential, private residential projects, commercial buildings, and corporate interiors.

The firm excels in its design efforts. As the contemporary building forms and spaces are sometimes difficult to depict and explain, each preliminary design is supported by extensive sets of coloured presentation sketches, physical and 3D models and renderings, in order to fully convey the design intent to the clients. But the unique design is not the ultimate goal. In order to execute its projects successfully, the firm collaborates regularly with LEED professionals on its projects and incorporates the use of sustainable building practices. Some of the recent projects include state of the art mechanical systems, including geothermal heating and cooling, use of heat recovery units, roof-top solar panels and green roofs.

The firm is set up a studio that collaborates with different design and architectural offices and creative individuals, and creates a unique delivery team based on the requirements of each project. The team follows up each project from initial design concepts to final construction, and achieves the best results when the initial design and design development is continuing with construction management phase of the work, ensuring that the final product stays true to the original design intent, while quality of execution and attention to details remain high. It is Urbanscape Group’s objective to produce contemporary design of the highest quality.

While the firm is open to any joint project or a challenge, on architectural projects it frequently collaborates with the architectural practice of Archdesign Architects, as both firms share the same office space and support staff.

The office covers the spectrum of architectural development from small shop to large research center. All the buildings are the result of a design approach that considers both the technical and creative aspects of a building. The projects are planned in close cooperation with users and experts. Almost all major orders resulting from successful competition participants.

The contest works serve to clarify the content of architectural attitude. You will also have to be related but also a reflection of the architecture course "in which spatial and aesthetic passions in accordance with the functional and practical requirements of a building. Urban Salon

Urban Salon is a London-based architectural and design studio. The work of the studio divides into four broad categories: architecture, interiors, exhibitions and research. We employ 9 full time staff including interior, furniture and product designers as well as architects. All our staff have the highest academic credentials.

We have worked on architectural, interior and exhibition projects ranging in scale from £40,000 to £110,000,000 for clients including The New Millennium Experience Company, Marks & Spencer, Virgin Atlantic, The Science Museum, The Corporation of London, Falmouth School and the British Council.

Our focus is not on delivering a house style but on providing fast and innovative solutions tailored for the needs and aspirations of each client. As far as each project allows, we provide ecologically driven responses that are engaging and non-elitist.

Runners-up in the Young Architect of the Year award in 2006 and in 2000, we have won numerous awards for our education, office, retail, exhibition and housing projects. We came runner-up in the Architecture Foundation’s New Generation Award in 2006 and were described by the Next Generation Award jury as “ingenious, adaptive and skilful”.

We listen to our clients and work closely with them to develop a design that meets their requirements and aspirations. In all our projects, we work hard to engender positive working relationships.

We are flexible in approach and tailor each team specifically to the project and client's requirements. Consequently a large majority of our clients are repeat clients including M&S, the Crafts Council, BBH, Orange, Bar Local and the ICA.

We work collaboratively with dedicated specialists from other design disciplines as the project requires.

The studio was originally established in 1997 by Andrew Onreat, Diana Cochrane and Alex Mowat who met while students at the Royal College of Art.

UrbanLab

UrbanLab is an architecture and urban design firm with a reputation as a professional practice known for its innovative solutions to, and long-range strategies for, the problems of both public and private communities. Our projects span scales, from large, urban proposals to small, residential projects to architecture installations, but our primary interest is in forward-looking projects that speculate on a more resilient and resourceful tomorrow.

Our design process is characterized by deep inquiry and collaborative exchange; design work is informed by intensive research and an experimental approach. UrbanLab strives to invent innovative, environmentally responsible design solutions and create spaces that establish healthy connections between people and their environments. Current architecture projects include the design of private houses and commercial building renovations. Current urban design projects include a study for infrastructural stormwater management systems that mimic nature by integrating stormwater into roadway, building and site development to reduce the damaging effects of urbanization on Lake Michigan and rivers/streams throughout the Chicago region.

UrbanLab is also a research laboratory actively engaged in examining American cities and American-style megalopolises. Martin Felsen is Principal Investigator for research projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Chicago Environmental Fund and the American Institute of Architect’s College of Fellows Latrobe Prize (2009). The broad goal of UrbanLab’s research is to re-conceptualize the design of buildings and the public-way urban infrastructure grid in order to (1) reduce reliance on non-renewable, non-local energy sources, (2) sustain water resources, and (3) design more effective uses of community assets to improve the health of natural systems and the wealth of people, today and in the future.

UNStudio

UNStudio is an international architectural practice, situated in Amsterdam since 1988, with extensive experience in the fields of urbanism, infrastructure, public, private and utility buildings on different scale levels. At the basis of UNStudio are a number of long-term goals, which are intended to define and guide the quality of our performance in the architectural field. We strive to make a significant contribution to the discipline of architecture, to continue to develop our qualities with respect to design, technology, knowledge and management and to be a specialist in public network projects. We see as mutually sustaining the environment, market demands and client wishes that enable our work, and we aim for results in which our goals and our client’s goals overlap. In 2009 UNStudio Asia was established, with its first office located in Shanghai, China. UNStudio Asia is a full daughter of UNStudio and is intricately connected to UNStudio Amsterdam. Initially serving to facilitate the design process for the Raffles City project in Hangzhou, it is envisioned that UNStudio Asia will expand to a stable multinational team of all-round and specialist architects.
