Goncalo Byrne Arquitectos
Born in Alcobaça in 1941.
Graduated in Architecture at the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon in 1968.
Author of a vast work, winning several times. Winner of competitions at national and international levels. It works and theoretical works published in national and international publications.
Of his work, diverse in terms of scale, theme and program are highlighted as an example the recent intervention in Estoi Palace Algarve in the old Hospital of St. Teotónio in Viseu and Alcobaça Monastery and surroundings, the building Headquarters of the Government of the Province of Vlaams-Brabant in Leuven, Belgium, the Tower of Maritime Traffic Control APL in Lisbon, Chiado Quarter of Empire, Theatre of Faro in the Algarve and the National Museum Machado de Castro in Coimbra.
Doctor Honoris Causa from the Faculty of Architecture, University Técnicade Lisbon. Receives, among many others, prémioA.I.C.A. / S.E.C. by all of the work performed and the Gold Medal of the Academy of Architecture in France. He has a career of teaching in the project area, primarily as a visiting professor at several universities, including most importantly those of Coimbra, Lausanne, Venezia, Mendrisio, Leuven, Harvard and Pamplona.
